Commuting to and on Campus
Public Transportation Integration
At Universitas Indonesia, we not only provide free on-campus shuttle services, but we also ensure that students living off-campus have access to sustainable transport options. To achieve this, we integrate public transportation networks with our university shuttle system. Universitas Indonesia’s Depok Campus is directly linked to two commuter train stations: Universitas Indonesia Station and Pondok Cina Station. Both stations connect seamlessly with our shuttle bus stops, serving students traveling via the Central Line (Jakarta-Bogor and Bogor-Jakarta). For students commuting by bus, Universitas Indonesia is connected to a TransJakarta bus station located across from the Student Regiment Building. This station serves routes 4B and D21.
Meanwhile Universitas Indonesia’s Salemba Campus is accessible via train and TransJakarta. The nearest train station to our Salemba Campus is the Cikini Station which serves students traveling via the Central Line (Jakarta-Bogor and Bogor-Jakarta). Students stopping at Cikini Station can reach Universitas Indonesia by taking the JAK.10A JakLingo, the 5M TransJakarta route, or with a short walk.
Universitas Indonesia’s Campus-wide Shuttle Bus: Bis Kuning
To support mobility on campus, Universitas Indonesia provides a shuttle bus service for our academic community and the general public alike. This shuttle service, affectionately dubbed as Bikun by our community, serves two routes which reach all across our campus free of charge. As of 2022, Universitas Indonesia is gradually adding electric vehicles to our Bikun fleet in order to support the transition towards sustainable transportation.
Bikun Tracker was launched in 2023 as an initiative by Universitas Indonesia’s bright students at the Faculty of Computer Science’s RISTEK student organization. Since their launch, RISTEK has consistently updated Bikun Tracker with the latest changes in bus routes, integration with HopeHelps services to handle sexual harassment and/or assault on the shuttle bus, and their latest ETA feature for convenience in tracking estimated arrival times.
Electric Bicycles for Rent: Universitas Indonesia’s Collaboration with PT Beam Mobility Indonesia
In 2023, Universitas Indonesia partnered with PT Beam Mobility Indonesia to bring electric bicycles (Beam Rover) to Universitas Indonesia’s Depok Campus. This partnership is a major step toward realizing our vision of improving mobility services on campus while demonstrating our commitment to environmental preservation. By utilizing this technology, Universitas Indonesia provides an efficient, time-saving, and sustainable transportation alternative for students, faculty, staff, and even the general public.
There are 450 fleet units operated in 42 parking points spread throughout the Universitas Indonesia area. In the Universitas Indonesia Depok Campus, Beam Rover operates from 05.00–23.00 WIB. To operate it, users simply need to download the Beam application on the App Store or Google Play and find the nearest electric bike through the application. Next, users can scan the QR code and follow the instructions in the app to open the vehicle. Before riding, users must wear a helmet and check all vehicle equipment, including the brakes. When ready to ride, fold the vehicle stand before sitting on the seat and turn the star to the right slowly. Users can then explore Universitas Indonesia with Beam Rover.
