Strengthening Research, Sustaining Tomorrow

Universitas Indonesia’s (UI) SDGs Report 2024–2025 highlights our comprehensive integration of the SDGs into governance, academic programs, research, and community engagement. This report underscores UI’s role as a global leader in higher education for sustainable development, with initiatives spanning climate action, gender equity, inclusive education, and innovation. In this report, we demonstrate measurable progress in aligning institutional strategies with the 17 SDGs, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and impact-driven outcomes.

UI’s achievements include strengthening sustainability governance structures, expanding research and innovation in renewable energy and health technologies, and advancing social equity through gender action plans and community empowerment programs. With this report, we reflect on the efforts and milestones we have achieved in our commitment to embedding SDGs into our core mission: ensuring that education, research, and outreach contribute meaningfully to environmental stewardship, social justice, and global partnerships.

A Message from Universitas Indonesia’s Rector

We give praise and thanks to God Almighty, for with His grace, we have been able to complete the Universitas Indonesia Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Report 2024-2025.

As a pioneer in intellectual development and national enlightenment, UI actively pursues self-betterment to deliver lasting positive impact for the advancement of Indonesian society and the world. This 2024-2025 SDGs ‘Strengthening Report, Research, Sustaining Tomorrow’, captures UI’s journey in fulfilling our commitment in addressing global issues that are the focus of the SDGs. Through this report, we present a snapshot of the steps we have taken to realize the SDGs within the scope of UI as a higher education institution with obligations to the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi): education, research, and community service.

In line with UI’s Strategic Plan for 2025-2029, this report presents UI’s initiatives and achievements in relation to the through the lens of entrepreneurship, impactful research and innovation, global competitiveness, improvement of education access and quality, as well as good governance and cultural transformation. We hope this report will spark the spirit of innovation among agents of change across generations to collaborations, anticipate the sustainability.

About Universitas Indonesia’s SDGs Report

UI’s SDGs Report for 2024–2025 was prepared by the Directorate for Planning and Performance as a demonstration of our commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainability. This report serves as a comprehensive record of UI’s progress in aligning academic, research, and operational activities with the SDGs. By documenting programs, policies, and achievements, this report reinforces UI’s role as a leading institution in advancing sustainability within higher education, while also providing stakeholders with clear insights into the university’s governance and long-term vision in sustainability.

The data used in this report was collected from faculties, schools, and administrative units across UI. These inputs are then aggregated, verified, and analyzed to ensure accuracy and representativeness of our institutional efforts in sustainability. This report is a reflection of our measurable contributions, as well as a tool for continuous development and benchmarking.
